Pagematic review - How to setup your professional blog in one shot within minutes!

This is a special tutorial for you. Here I tried to show you exactly how to setup your professional blog in one shot within minutes using one of Pagematic’s web hosting packages.

If you already are a professional blogger, you also find this tutorial interesting because of the features of a web hosting company I am talking about.

I already explained in my previous blog post … how Pagematic provides both the services, which are the most important in professional blogging, … one of them is web hosting and the other is email marketing and the best part is … these two important services are combined in one package.

You pay for only one service and get the other service completely free. Actually email marketing is included in Pagematic’s web-hosting package and this package of two premium services starts from an incredibly low price of mere $5 per month. If you somehow omitted that post, go through it.

Here in this post, I will show you step-by-step how quickly and easily you can set up your blog in one shot using one of Pagematic’s hosting packages.

Pagematic review - How to setup professional blog in one shot!

Here are the Steps for Setting Up Your Professional Blog using One of Pagematic Web Hosting Packages

These steps are very easy and simple. One can setup a professional blog even having no technical knowledge.

Step1: Register Your Website or Blog at Pagematic.

The first and the most important step is … register your new website (a blog is ultimately a website) at Pagematic web host by selecting any one package from their list. The details of different packages are shown in my last post. (If you wish, just take a look into it)

After registration, when you get the access to your website’s Cpanel or control panel, you need to follow the rest of the steps one by one.

Task 1: So, in this step, your task is to register your website at Pagematic. If you haven’t registered your website yet, go for it.

Step2: Click on Soft or Softaculous on Your Cpanel.

After registration, when you get the access to your website’s Cpanel, you can see that there are various sections in your Cpanel such as Preferences, Mail, Files, and Logs etc.

At the bottom of your Cpanel (see Fig.1), there is a section called Software/Services in which you find different open source software packages or scripts. Here you need to select Soft or Softaculous tab.

Task 1: So, click on Soft or Softaculous tab.

Step 3: Install WordPress

Now, you are at a page, which looks like Fig. 2. Here you find several open source software and scripts.

Task 1: As you are going to setup your blog, just mouse over on WordPress tab. Here you find two buttons Install and Demo. Click the button Install to install WordPress at your website.

Step 4: Fill up Your Blog Information.

Pagematic review - How to setup professional blog in one shot within minutes!

Now you are at a page, which looks like Fig. 3. Here you need to fill up all necessary information to actually set up your blog.

First you need to choose your blog protocol. It can be http:// or http://www. In case, it is a secured blog you can choose https://. Your blog URL or link actually will start with this protocol.

Task 1: So, choose your blog protocol by clicking the drop down list Choose Protocol and select one of the options provided to you. For normal website or blog it is http://www.

Your second task is to select the domain that is the name of your website registered at Pagematic or a subdomain (a directory that you perhaps created at your website) to setup your blog. If you register your website name as it will come up automatically in the drop down list.

Task 2: So, select your domain or sub domain (if you already created) from the Choose Domain drop down list.

Your third task is to create a directory where you want to set up your blog.

For example, many people, who are professional bloggers use their main websites as their professional blogs. In this case, blog URL is the main website URL such as Here, you need not create a directory.

There is a second example, where people use their websites to sell their main products or services and in the same domain they use a separate directory for their blogs. In this case you need to create a directory.

So, the choice is yours.

Task 3: So, fill up the text box In Directory with a name to create a directory if you wish to have it provided it should not exist. Default value is wp. You just need to rename it.

The next task is to create a database where all of your blog entries will be stored in different tables in that database. Here a default random value usually comes up. You can keep it or rename it.

Task 4: Put your blog’s database name in the textbox called Database Name.

Now, you need to put table prefix. Table prefix is nothing but a prefix with which all of your blog’s table names start. It is concatenated at the beginning of all the table names. Here you can see that the default value that comes up is wp_. In my opinion, keep it as it is.

Task 5: Fill up the text box Table Prefix with your preferred prefix or keep it as it is.

Now, provide your blog name or site name. It is the name that shows up as your blog title. Blog title should specifically represent your blog’s key contribution to the people or a specifically target market. It should clearly tell that what is there in your blog, what people get from it, exactly what solution your blog provide to a specific target market or people, why people visit your blog …just like this. While choosing your blog title, you should consider it from searchers’ perspective. If you want people to find your blog in the major search engines you should incorporate those targeted keywords or search terms by which if one searches your blog should come up in the search results.

Task 6: Put you blog title in the text box called Site Name. By default it is My Blog. Remove it and put your own title. Remember that this title should not exceed 60 characters including spaces otherwise it will be truncated in search engine results.

Now, provide your site description, which is actually your blog description. It is as important as your blog title. So, put some time in brainstorming it and come out with appropriate description. It is also found in major search results and its length should not exceed 140 characters including spaces.

Task 7: Put your blog description in the text box called Site Description. By default it is My WordPress Blog. Just replace it with your appropriate blog description.

Next is Enable Multisite. As you are creating your first blog, so, it is assumed that you have only one site. So, just ignore it.

Task 8: Keep Enable Multisite (WPMU) check box unchecked.

The next 3 entries are all about administrating your blog. When your blog setup is completed you will be given a link to administer your blog. At that time these 3 things are required.

Task 9: Put an appropriate username in the text box Admin Username. Default value is Admin. You can replace it with your choice.

Task 10: Put a strong password with a combination of uppercase, lowercase characters mixed with special characters and numbers in the text box called Admin Password.

Task 11: Put your email address in the text box Admin Email to administer your blog. Default value, which shows up here, is the email address that you entered at the time web hosting registration.

Now, your task is to select a plugin, which restricts login attempts. For the time being keep it as it is.

Task 12: Keep the check box called Limit Login Attempts unchecked. If you require you can change this option latter.

Now keep all the fields in Advanced Options as they are. In the near future, when you will become familiar with administering your blog and feel that you require any specific option or all advanced options to be changed, you can easily modify them.

Task 13: So keep all of the Advanced Options as they are for the time being.

Now your task is to choose a theme for your blog. You can select one of the themes already present there. Scroll them to the right or to the left to view more by pressing the right arrow (>) or left arrow (<) respectively present at the bottom of the theme panel. Or, you can go with the default theme provided by WordPress by not selecting any one from the display.

Actually after installing these free themes you need some technical knowledge to customize them according to your requirement. If you really wish to setup a professional blog, you need to provide professional look and functionalities to your blog and that can be easily done when you use premium themes. In this case my recommendation is Thesis. They provide easy to customize themes with full of professional look and features.

Task 14: If you have some technical background, go for free themes by pressing Select button from the display or go with default theme by selecting nothing from the display and later incorporate Thesis for professional look and features.

Task 15: Provide a valid email address in the text box called Email installation details to so that you get all the installation details to this email address when installation is over.

Whatever inputs you enter here in this page, keep a record of them because you will require this information for administering your blog later.

That’s it.

It takes few seconds to process all of your inputs and finally a message is thrown on a new page (Fig. 4) to confirm you that your WordPress installation is successfully done.

Step 5: Click the Link to See How Your New Blog Looks Like.

Pagematic review - How to setup professional blog in one shot within minutes!

Here in this page (Fig. 4) you are provided with two links – the first one is your blog’s homepage URL or link and the second is your blog administration link.

For example, I have created a food blog whose link is

So, if I click this link, I can see my blog (see Fig. 5) that I created to prepare this tutorial.

And there is a second link, which is It is my blog administration link.

If I click this link, I can go to my blog administration page (see Fig. 6).

Task 1: Note down your blog’s hompage URL as well as blog’s administration page URL.

Task 2: Click the first link i.e. your blog’s homepage link to look and feel your blog’s home page. It looks like Fig. 5.

Task 3: Click the second link to administer your blog. This page looks like Fig. 6.

Task 1: So, your task is to put your Username and Password in the corresponding text boxes and click the button Login.
